Gawaling Tours & Treks "The land of Happiness"

The Handmade paper making begins to find its place as the most important part of Bhutanese culture and tradition. The paper making first began as a domestic occupation and still preserved to till these days. In the year 1990 the Government, Ministry of Trade and Industry established the Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory to act as a key pilot to safe guard the old traditional of handmade paper making in Bhutan and expand its market for commercial purpose. In 1992 the factory was privatized under the sole proprietorship of Mr. Norbu Tenzin, who was trained and sent as missionary in Shimane Prefecture, Japan for high quality and designing of Bhutanese traditional handmade paper for international market. The Gawaling Tours & Treks is the only tour operator in Bhutan which provides traditional handmade paper making tour. We provide tour/package to those clients who are interested in making paper and want to learn about the art of Bhutanese handmade paper making. A tour can be for 7 days / 14 days / 21 days or you can book your own private trips depending upon number of days you want to be trained in traditional handmade paper making. Further, we can also take you to the far corners of Bhutan to visit some of the local handmade paper making unit, rather than learning the art of Bhutanese handmade paper making. For those people who are interested to learn the art of paper making/to visit some of the local paper making unit in Bhutan, they have to pay the extra bill of US$ 55 per person per day for particular number of training days.
