The Bhutan Visa Process Explained

Unlike many countries, you cannot apply for a Bhutan tourist visa directly. The application must be submitted on your behalf by a licensed Bhutanese tour operator(Gawaling Tours since-2001).

· Required Documents: You’ll need to provide your tour operator with a clear scanned copy of your passport’s photo page (must be valid for at least 6 months) and a recent passport-sized photograph.

· Fees: You’ll need to pay a one-time, non-refundable visa application fee of USD $40. You must also pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD $100 per person per night (with discounts for children).

· Visa Clearance Letter: Once approved, you’ll receive a visa clearance letter via email from your tour operator. Print and carry this letter with you, as airlines will request it at check-in.

· Passport Stamping: The actual visa is stamped into your passport upon arrival at Paro International Airport or a land border entry point.
